First, we start all our steering wheel restorations with a complete cleaning by stripping off all of the wax and grease from the wheel. The wheel then gets a wet sanding for bite, and all cracks and defects are now repaired using a special process. Colored wheels are primed to seal them and again, we wet sand it down. Wood wheels are not really wood, they’re plastic, and will get re-stained in walnut. The wheel is now ready for a top coat of high quality urethane. Several coats of urethane are applied with wet sanding in-between to give the wheel depth. After two days, the wheel is ready for hand buffing*(Customers can have a choice of high gloss or semi gloss)*. Wood wheels can also be re-grained to look more like real wood, if the customer prefers this look. Custom color wheels are no problem - we can two-tone, pinstripe, or anything else you can think of. Wood wheels can be specially color matched to you dash or interior trim. Some customers with firebirds like to have their wheel matched to the burl wood dash and console.
 
All cracks get filled and dressed. Repairs will not be seen when work is completed.
